Ravensburger Gruffalo My First Puzzle #Review

We were sent a lovely Ravensburger Gruffalo jigsaw puzzle to review, this particular jigsaw puzzle is aimed at children from 18 months and upwards it has been specifically designed with younger children in mind, the pieces are thicker so children that are still learning to grip and co-ordinate smaller pieces will be able to do so.

The outside of the box is very bright in colour so the jigsaw stands out and the pictures on the front of the box, mirror the jigsaws that are inside and they are all pictures that replicate the fabulous story of the Gruffalo any child that loves the Gruffalo will love this puzzle.

Inside the box is four separate jigsaw puzzles.

• Two piece Gruffalo "There is no such thing as the Gruffalo"
• Three piece snake "Scrambled snake"
• Four piece mouse "A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood"
• Five piece owl and fox "Owl ice cream?, Roasted Fox"

Each individual puzzle is surrounded by a different colour boarder to make it easier for children to match the pieces together, all the pieces in the box are larger and thicker than an average size jigsaw piece aimed at 3 - 5 year old children, making them harder to bend and less likely for the child to put the pieces in their mouths and swallow, so the makers of the puzzle have taken in to account child safety and that younger children are generally more heavy handed than an older child would be.

All of the jigsaws pieces inside the box have the characters on them that are the exact characters from the book, and its lovely that quotes taken from the book are on each individual jigsaw puzzle, so the jigsaw will not be unfamiliar for a child that loves the story the Gruffalo.

Overall Adam found this jigsaw enjoyable but a challenge for his age. Adam is two years and three months in age and he managed to do the first two Jigsaw puzzles himself but needed some help with the other two with slightly more pieces, I think he possibly could of done the other two himself eventually, but a short attention span meant he was wondering off and coming back to the puzzle, although I do think there was a sense of achievement once he had completed each one.

I think this jigsaw would be suitable for any child up to the age of three years old, children above this age wouldn't find the jigsaw challenging and would get bored of it quite quickly. We are big fans of the Gruffalo and I think this is a great compliment to the book and a good way to remember the story.
