Bissell Stain remover - The Twelve Stain's of Christmas

With five children to clean up after and a larger than life family, spills on the carpet are inevitable this Christmas with the kids and chocolate or my sister and her red wine it is bound to happen and I'm not looking forward to the clean up but carpet stains are going to be a thing of the past with Bissell this year with there simple yet effective cleaning solutions to get us through the twelve stains of Christmas .

The 12 stains of Christmas

  • Chocolate
  • Glitter and Glue
  • Mulled wine
  • Gravy
  • Dog urine
  • Pine needles
  • Cranberry sauce
  • Fat and grease
  • Mud, puddles and grass stains
  • Eggnog
  • Soot

We were challenged to put through its paces the Bissell cordless stain eraser it is lightweight easy to use and to be honest the results of the stain eraser were very very impressive.

We couldn't try out all the 12 stain's of Christmas - the stains we tested were red wine, gravy, and chocolate as these are the most likely stains in our house to occur this Christmas the kids are always dropping chocolate and I'm sure the gravy will be dripping from a plate onto the carpet - we are unfortunate in that our living room is our dining room as well so the carpet tends to get the brunt of the droppings.

We were sent a piece of carpet to try out the stains on I was actually quite glad about this as I'm a bit of a sceptic when it comes to cleaning I never believe things will actually clean as they say they should do I started off by spilling the products as if they had been dropped, I cleaned them with a damp cloth as I normally would do with spills then I set to work with the Bissell stain remover.

The Bissell Stain remover is really easy to use. before you can use it you have to charge it for at least 8 hours overnight. It comes with an easy to follow set of instructions and a trial sized spot remover and boost for those more difficult stains and odour removal the manual recommends spraying the stain first leaving for a few minutes then sucking up the stain there is also a brush on the actual machine to rub the stain remover in with.

Both the chocolate and gravy came up a treat the red wine was slightly more difficult to get up but it did remove the stain really well I have never successfully removed a red wine stain so I was very impressed that it worked even if it was a tough little stain it seemed to prove no match for the Bissell stain remover.

The Bissell stain remover is lightweight portable and easy to use the only issue I had was working the chamber where you fill it with water and spot remover once I had worked this out the rest was a doddle, I liked that whilst using the machine you could watch the water changing colour it gave me a sense of satisfaction the machine was doing its job properly.

The Bissel stain remover is definitely a must-have this Christmas and will come in handy for parties family gatherings or even if you are Christmas crafting with the kids as it removes glitter and glue it's a practical piece of equipment that will vanish all those messy spills that are very likely to happen  this Christmas and all year round.

The BISSELL Stain Eraser is available from BISSELL Direct with a 15 and 30-minute run time and an RRP of £99.99 and £109.99, respectively.

Spring cleaning with Zoflora #reveiw

As we are into spring I am definitely trying to get the house tidy and  having a mass sort out so we can make some room and enjoy the outside throughout the summer.

I am always looking for new products that will make my house sparkle, usually something that takes minimum effort in elbow grease and has a maximum shine and scent its very important.

Over the last few weeks I have been cleaning with Zoflora springtime concentrated Disinfectant, It has a blend of freshly cut green leaves, pine, lemon and herbs, it really bought that springtime scent  into the house even when it was raining outside - The scent is just right though it not overpowering in any sort of way.

spring cleaning with disinfectant zoflora

My kitchen was beginning to sparkle, with out to much effort which means the product really suited me.
I used this on the Kitchen worktops, the floor and even on the kids table and high chair - the product is used at 1 part Zoflora and 40 parts water so a little bit really does go a long way the only rule to this is if you are cleaning ceramic or metal sinks, drains and toilet bowls you would not dilute Zoflora however again you still only need a little bit.

Zoflora Springtime is available in 120ml bottle priced at around £1.42. Stockists include Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Wilkinson’s.

Over all I loved this product, it smells great, it makes things really sparkly and you get a lot of use  from a small bottle that costs very little - I will definitely be buying Zoflora again it brings a bit of the spingtime inside and makes your home clean and smell fresh.

National Cleaning day 19th March - Vileda #Review

Spring is nearly officially upon us and its time to start emptying out the cupboards - we will be sorting out for a car boot and of course giving the house a good clean especially the windows, most of them have the most artistic little hand prints and streaks on them!

This March 19th families nationwide are expected to participate in the first Annual national cleaning day. The idea is to get everyone to "pitch in and clean" in the hope that it encourages those that are unfamiliar with a mop or hover to help out around the home.

On the day people all over the UK are asked to dedicate a few hours to cleaning in the hope your home with be fresh and sparkly in time for spring.

Did you know despite revolutions in cleaning more than 67% of adults still rely on there parents to come round and clean or help with chores around the home despite living independently - shocking isn't it, I can honestly say I have never asked my parents round to help me clean!
Mums around the UK are drafted in to help with a whole host of chores with washing up being at the top of the list closely followed by vacuuming or mopping, laundry then ironing.

National cleaning day is a day to put mums or whoever does the bulk of chores first, giving them a little bit of help and support is guaranteed to put a smile on there face and to get things around the home finished quicker. If you never do the washing up get you rubber gloves on, if you never do the hoovering fetch the hover out, do whatever you can to "Pitch in and clean."

On the day Vileda is offering the first ever 24 hour Tweetline giving you a chance to ask any cleaning query or problems no matter how big or small - They will have experts on hand to help. Also on the Vileda Facebook page there will be a chance to win some cleaning products, alongside top tips advice and facts related to national cleaning day.

We were sent four products from the cleaning range to try out and put to the test,

Vileda cleaning products for the home

  • Active Wave, Non Scratch All Purpose Scourer.
  • Microfibre, Dust Cloth.
  • Vileda, style, Sunsplash all purpose cloths.
  • Microfibre, 2 in 1 Kitchen cloth.

First up we tried out the, active wave non Scratch all purpose cleaner, Vileda have injected a small yet powerful dose of power into your cleaning. The ideal all purpose cleaner makes light work of of removing dirt effectively without scratching - I put this to the test on some of my lovely pans, I am always sceptical and a bit scared to use anything that is a bit scratchy on them I usually just buy soft dish cloths but this can mean soaking pans for hours upon end.

The Active wave sponge feels just that, one side is quite scratchy the other side is soft like a sponge, I tried this out on my pan after having spaghetti, the pan had been left over night so I new it would be quite tough to clean - I didn't leave the pan in the water for too long, I made use of the active sponge, it worked really well it didn't scratch any of the Teflon coating off, it did glide through the dirt on the pan making it easy and quick to clean I was surprised at how well it worked and that there was no damage to the surface of the pan.

The Vileda active wave cloth is the latest innovation in cleaning technology and is priced at £1.29

Vileda cleaning products for the home

Next up we tried out the Microfibre Dust, this is a softened fleece effect cloth that removes up to 40% more dust than traditional dusters. It is creates its own electrostatic charge and it attracts dust, dirt and hair which is most commonly found in the home.

The duster its self is really soft, its so soft that Adam was calling it a baby blanket and cuddling it, I tried this out upstairs, we have a tumble dryer upstairs which makes plenty of dust to clean, I thought the cloth worked really well at collecting the mass amount of dust that collects upstairs, However I didn't think it was anything better or anything worse that others dusters I have used previously, I would say that that they are all as good as each other, the only thing I did think was better about the dust cloth was that when it was washed and dried it hadn't lost its shape and it was still as soft as when I had first taken it out of the packet. The Microfibre dust cloth is priced at £1.99.

Vileda cleaning products for the home

The new Microfibre Kitchen, is great out of the different cloths we were sent this is my favourite, its an all in one cloth. One side of the cloth has groves running down it where as the other side is quite soft but very absorbent. I love this one because of its multipurpose instead of looking at all the cleaning cloths in the supermarket trying to decide which one you want to buy, this makes things so much easier one side of the cloth is perfect for polishing and cleaning grease where as the other side is great for tackling burnt on dirt without again scratching the things you need to clean.

I used this on the tops of my oven and it worked really well at helping to lift all the dirt from the tops of it with out using to much elbow grease and I only used water. It is also really great at absorbing the liquid used to clean.

I then washed the cloth and used it as a duster, to dust the kitchen after washing the cloth, it came out just as good and it is like the Microfibre dust, I wouldn't say its any better in use as a duster or any worse I would put them all around the same figure if I had to give them a number. The Microfibre Kitchen is priced at £1.99.

Last but by no means least we tried out the yellow Sunsplash - All purpose cleaning cloths, these are reusable cloths for in and around the home, they are absorbent and long lasting.

I have been using these for everything wiping down the highchair and tables cleaning the kitchen sides, wiping dirty finger prints off the door frames, I have used it mainly as like a anything cloth when Liam spilt his drink the other day I used this to soak up the juice I have to say the cloth did a good job and didn't seem to be wet through or dripping when I was carrying it through to the kitchen to rinse it out. The Sunsplash cloth is very flexible and can also be washed in the washing machine so you can use it again and again.

Vileda cleaning products for the home

Overall, I really liked the Vileda cloths and when I am in the mood cleaning can be quite therapeutic.

Please Santa Bring me a new Hoover!

As you all know I cleaned my living room carpet last weekend and how fabulous it looks, Or looked one week after and we already have some dirty patches reappearing where the boys have dropped juice and food bits which is pretty rubbish, It doesn't help that every night when I hoover I find myself going over and over the same patches because my hover doesn't seem to have much suction, it tries but I don't think there is much life in the poor old thing.

This got me thinking I really want a new cleaner so I started having a look round online and lets face it when you think of a decent brand whats the first thing you think of?

I thought of Dyson It is a massive house hold name and a very popular trusted brand. Dyson was  founded in 1993 by sir James Dyson after manufacturing his first what he would call perfect machine, in just 18 short months became the fastest selling vacuum cleaner in the United Kingdom.
Today Dyson sell products in over 50 countries worldwide they employ numerous amounts of people and the company prides its self on engineering products which work in different and better ways than other manufacturers.

Dyson's hoovers used to be enormous but now they come in all different shapes sizes and colours, I suppose like everything products evolve usually getting smaller and smarter, I have been browsing the John Lewis Website, oh how fantastic the hovers look Its sad, but I actually got excited when my eyes fixed on this one its Dyson's smallest ever hoover called the DC49 Multi floor complete cylinder vacuum cleaner, It sounds amazing and has 5 stars by review this is It.........

I Know whats going to be on my list this year for Santa Clause, Although I am not sure realistically santa will be that generous, however I will be aiming to save for one of these mini little beauty's.

what would be you favourite hoover and what will Santa be bringing you this year I would love for you to share your thoughts?

This Post is a *featured post however all opinions and thoughts expressed remain my own

Amazing Rug doctor Carpet cleaning! #Review

I was lucky enough to be offered the opportunity to review a Rug doctor carpet and upholstery cleaner and after nearly three years of having the same carpet two young children which have had sickness bugs and tendencies to throw food all over the carpet its unthinkable what actually might be growing in the carpet never mind all the mud, dirt and sand that's been walked in from the garden. So of course I said yes.

home carpet cleaner

My living room is actually huge so I only managed to clean the one room, but it is the worst carpet and I have to say it is the one I have hated for a long time, I was embarrassed to have people visit and sit in it.

The Rug doctor carpet cleaner is very easy to use it comes with instructions and it also it has written instructions all over the actual machine. The white tank at the front of the cleaner is removable, you have to fill this up with about nine litres of water then add 150mls of cleaning solution, then you clip the white tank back into place. The carpet solution is said to clean approximately three rooms however because my room is so big I only managed the one.

home carpet cleaner

The carpet cleaner its self has to be pulled backwards along the carpet and when it is full with water, I have to say the carpet cleaner is actually quite heavy and the water does not last that long in it before you have to stop, empty the removable white water tank and fill it again. The water that I was tipping away was black although after having the carpet for so long I am not surprised.
If you are willing to put in the effort the results are quite astounding I had black sticky patches on the carpet that had been trodden in I never thought it was going to lift the stains and It did they disappeared in front of my eyes it is actually amazing.

The Carpet after the clean was like a brand new carpet it was all fresh, fluffy, healthy and new looking I couldn't believe it was the same carpet! I really didn't want to walk on it and I was dreading the boys getting up in the morning with the thought of them spilling something on my lovely clean carpet.

The carpet is suppose to take around two hours to dry, I am not sure how long it took because I did mine at night time so by the time we got up for breakfast it was dry there was a slightly musty smell in the living room but hardly surprising after all the dirt it had lifted off the carpet.

Over all this carpet cleaner needs quite a bit of effort, but the results are actually amazing I really cant recommend or praise Rug doctor enough. Usually I would show you before and after pictures but I was like a crazed carpet lady once I started cleaning. I was so pleased with the results I was having from Rug doctor I was a bit like an over excited child! I forgot to take pictures which is pretty rubbish on my part, so your going to have to take my word for it, If you need your carpet cleaning Rug doctor is all the cleaning machine you need!

Rug Doctor is available to hire from most supermarkets and other stores like B&Q and the range in fact most people are no further than ten minutes from a retailer in which you can hire Rug doctor.
At a cost of just £30 pounds for 24hrs which is all you would really need it for and it could save you up to £160 if you paid for a professional to clean the carpet.

To find your nearest retailer some fantastic before and after picture (yes they are real!) and lots more information you can visit www.rugdoctor.co.uk

I was provided hire of the Rug doctor free of charge for the purpose of this review all opinions expressed remain honest and my own.

Breathease Cleaning products #review

Following on from my last post, with over 5.4 million people suffering with Asthma in the UK,  Solent International have come up with a fantastic new range of cleaning products which has been especially designed for people suffering with Asthma and other allergies.

The product has been scientifically tested and has gone through extensive user trials with those suffering with the condition 90% of 126 have reported improved respiratory effects compared to there usual cleaner.

Introducing to you Breathease

cleaning products to help prevent asthma

Breathease is the first UK cleaner to have earned the Asthma and Allergy Friendly accreditation and to work in partnership with Asthma UK.
The products available in the range include, multi-purpose cleaner, kitchen cleaner, Bathroom cleaner, shower and tile cleaner, window glass cleaner.

I was sent four of the Breathease products to review, multi-purpose cleaner, Kitchen cleaner, shower & tile cleaner and bathroom cleaner. When they arrived the bottles and labeling are quite clear on what each individual product is for and its function. The bottles are all quite bright and the pictures on the front of the bottle correspond with the room the cleaners are for. They are all clearly labelled with the Asthma and allergy friendly logo.

Breathease Kitchen cleaner; I have been using this all week mainly because I wanted to put the product to the test. I have been using this after cooking each meal to clean down the kitchen sides and the top of the cooker.

Now I must admit I am a bit of a cleaning freak so my
kitchen is never that dirty, with two small children and lots of germs about I like to know that its clean. So putting this product to the test, first of all the smell, I cant really describe the smell its like a fresh smell, Its not over powering, you know how some cleaning products kind of hit the back of you throat when you spray them or you feel like you have been eating them rather than cleaning with it, well there is none of that with this, the smell is quite mild and it doesn't linger it is the type of product you spray and then you cant smell it any more!

This was before using the kitchen cleaner

This was after cleaning, it was quite good at removing the grease from around the oven hobs

Breathease is easy to use

This picture isn't the greatest picture but the cooker was sparkling after using Breathease

Next up I tried the Bathroom cleaner I have purposely not cleaned my bathroom for a week I wanted it to be dirty, so I could see what this product could do.
After a week of not cleaning my bathroom the sink, bath and tiles were quite grimy water stained and dirty, its a good job not many people have been round to visit, so this is my dirty bathroom sink.

Before Cleaning

As you can see the sink is quite dirty, the plug looks like it seen better days too!

The pictures below, are the pictures I have taken after using Breathease

After using Breathease I actually think the sink looks cleaner now than I have seen it for a long time.

A sparkling sink!

The fragrance of the Breathease bathroom cleaner is pretty much the same as the kitchen cleaner smell. Often when I use cleaning products in my bathroom they make me cough and I get a headache, there is no window in my bathroom so the ventilation isn't that great, I have to say with this product there was no coughing I found it was again very mild and not to over powering like some products can be.

The shower and tile Cleaner again it was very mild in smell, it did remove the water stains and with a bit of elbow grease removed the stains off the tiles from around my cooker, although I think I didn't leave it on just quite long enough, for the grease to start lifting with out too much work!

Last but not least is the Multi-Purpose cleaner I love this one great for cleaning the kids table and high chair down after lunch, Plus for cleaning the doors and the skirting boards where the kids have dropped or thrown food and wiped there fingers all over them. Again a very mild cleaning agent but it does what it says on the bottle.

Over all I love the Breathease cleaning range, The products do what they say they do and are great cleaning products, but looking at the bigger picture and how serious asthma as a condition can be, preventative measures are crucial In looking out for your well being, this company has taken into account Asthma triggers and have done a fantastic job at designing a range of products to help prevent "Attacks" and to ease symptoms around the home. This product Is definitely worth buying and trying not only will it help improve your breathing around the home its also a great cleaner and all round great product.

To find out more about the Breathease cleaning range you can visit there website over at  www.breathease.co  and to find out more about Asthma you can visit Asthma UK

I know what I would love from the man with the red coat, I would love a camera it doesn't have to be all singing all dancing as I am not super savvy with new technology in fact I am a bit of an all round techno phobe however I am uploading everything with my phone at the minute and the quality is not that great, So whats on your Christmas wish list?
